At Solis Mammography Grand Parkway Spring, we care for women across Spring and the surrounding communities, from a first screening to a yearly exam. We welcome walk-ins and offer select Saturday appointments, and no referral is needed for a screening mammogram, so you can book whenever it works for you, or explore our Houston-area centers. Our dedicated breast health experts, combined with our state-of-the-art technology, deliver the exceptionally accurate results you deserve and the highest levels of accuracy within the industry.

Our center uses SmartCurve, a curved compression surface shaped like a woman's breast that reduces pressure on the chest wall and distributes it more evenly for a more comfortable mammogram. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor's order or referral to schedule a mammogram?

No, you do not need a doctor's order to schedule a screening mammogram at most of our locations. However, we do require that you provide the name of an established physician at the time of your appointment, in order to share your results with your doctor.

Is a mammogram covered by insurance?

Solis Mammography is in-network with most major insurance. For women 40+, your 3D mammogram is a covered preventive health benefit with a $0 out-of-pocket cost under most plans. Self-pay options are also available.

Do I need to do any prep before my mammogram?

If you are a new patient, you will need to send any previous mammography records to Solis Mammography prior to your appointment. Your previous images will be compared to your new exam images by our breast-specialized radiologists.

Additionally, follow the directions below to make your appointment go as smoothly as possible:

  • Don't apply deodorant the day of your exam. It can interfere with your images and cause an unnecessary return visit.
  • Wear a two-piece outfit. You will undress only from the waist up. We provide comfortable privacy capes to wear during your visit.
  • Avoid using any lotion, powder, cream or perfume the day before or the day of your appointment.

Once you check-in, you will be taken to a changing room where you will undress from the waist up. We will provide you with a comfortable privacy cape to wear before your exam begins. During your exam, one of our expert mammography technologists will guide you through the procedure, which takes no more than 10 minutes, with each breast getting compressed twice.

After your mammogram, you will change clothes and leave the center. Your results will be sent via email in two business days or less. Don't forget to schedule next year's appointment during check-in.

When should I begin getting a mammogram?

Average risk women should begin getting annual mammograms starting at age 40. Your first mammogram establishes a baseline understanding of your breast tissue and is used as a comparison for future screenings, allowing a radiologist to monitor any changes year over year. This first mammogram will also determine the density of your breast tissue because research has shown that women with dense breasts have a higher lifetime risk of developing breast cancer.

Does this center use AI to help read my mammogram?

Yes, our screening platform includes 3D Mammography enhanced with AI. FDA-cleared AI assists our radiologists in detecting earliest stage breast cancer.
