Cryoablation freezes and destroys small breast tumors with a thin probe under ultrasound guidance. It is a minimally invasive outpatient option using an FDA-authorized device for carefully selected patients age 70+ with small, low-risk early-stage breast cancer who also receive hormone therapy. It may be an option for those who are not good candidates for surgery.
